A hotel development at 2212 Beach Boulevard would achieve three City goals: anchor Palmetto Avenue ‘Main Street’, strengthen Pacifica’s visitor serving economy, and bring additional tax revenue to the City.

On August 27, 2018, the City of Pacifica released a Request for Qualifications for development of a hotel/conference center at 2212 Beach Blvd. RFQ - Hotel/Conference Center 2212 Beach Blvd

January / February 2018

On January 22, 2018, the City Council determined that the 2212 Beach Blvd. site would no longer be considered for the new library.  During this time period the City and the developer were unable to agree on key terms for the development and operation of the hotel, which led the City Council and developer to mutually agree to terminate negotiations. The Palmetto Streetscape project nearing completion of Phase 1 and recent Council decisions regarding terminating ENA negotiations with the hotel developer and removing a library site from 2212 Beach Blvd. create an opportunity to solicit new development proposals for the 2212 Beach Blvd. site.

At its February 26, 2018 meeting, the Pacifica City Council considered a new solicitation process for a hotel development at the 2212 Beach Boulevard site.  The February 26 Council report can be reviewed here:  [insert link]  During Council’s consideration of this item, a question arose about whether a different use, such as the concept of a Pacifica Ocean Discovery Center, would be better suited for that site.  The Council has continued the discussion to the March 12, 2018 City Council meeting in order to receive more public input on whether a hotel should be developed at that site.
