Purpose and Objectives

The Library Advisory Committee (LAC) was formed by Resolution No. 02-2016 adopted by the City Council on January 11, 2015 to serve in an advisory capacity to City staff on the New Pacifica Library project and began meeting in July 2016.  Library Advisory Committee activity was paused in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Library Advisory Committee was disbanded and restructured under a new membership format by Resolution No. 67-2023 adopted by the City Council on June 26, 2023. The City Council rescinded Resolution No. 67-2023 and amended the Library Advisory Committee charter through adoption of Resolution No. 10-2025 on January 27, 2025.

The purpose and objectives of the Library Advisory Committee are to:

  1. Increase project transparency by holding meetings open to the community and in compliance with Brown Act requirements;
  2. Assist City staff by providing feedback on various elements of the project such as project priorities, direction, and selection of professional consultants as needed;
  3. Facilitate communication between the City and community in various ways including engaging in public outreach to solicit feedback and opinions on the Library Project.

             Library Sticker Bookmark Winners

Congratulations to the 4 Winners of the "Love Pacifica Libraries" Sticker and Bookmark Design Contest - Claire (age 7), Emmaline (age 8), Aryanna (age 12) and an anonymous adult!

Thank you to our library lovers for the 44 bookmark entries and 37 sticker entries across all ages, with creative designs showing all the ways we love our Pacifica libraries!

Did you know that Pacifica has the smallest and oldest library facilities in the San Mateo County Libraries system?  The City of Pacifica thinks that Pacifica deserves better!  That’s why the City’s Library Advisory Committee (LAC) is working on the Pacifica Libraries Modernization Project.  Part of LAC’s outreach on this project held a “Love Your Pacifica Libraries” Sticker and Bookmark Design Contest.  The LAC was excited to announce and congratulate the 4 winners of this contest at LAC’s July 9, 2025 meeting at Sharp Park Library.  We want to thank all of the participants who submitted such creative and wonderful designs for bookmarks and stickers showcasing Pacificans’ love for our local Pacifica Libraries!  We had 44 total bookmark entries and 37 total sticker entries.  All ages were eligible and the winning designs were selected from the full pool of submissions.  LAC presented the winning designs and a $50 Shop Pacifica gift card to Claire (Age 7) who designed a winning sticker featuring her pet hamster, Rosie, reading a book; Emmaline (Age 8) who designed a winning bookmark featuring her favorite places in Pacifica’s Sanchez Library; and Aryanna (Age 12) who designed a winning bookmark featuring adventures that reading can transport us to – adventures in space, realms of dragons, castaway islands, or the vast oceans.  One generous anonymous adult submitted a winning sticker design featuring a book at the beach at sunset, capturing our dual love of libraries and our beautiful coastal environment.  Pick up a sticker and/or bookmark at Pacifica’s Sanchez or Sharp Park Library or at pop up locations where the Library Advisory Committee shares information about the City’s proposed Pacifica Libraries Modernization Project and how the community can support better library facilities for Pacifica.  More information is available at the project page at www.pacificalibraryproject.com
