City of Pacifica
Home MenuUnused Medication Disposal
To help protect the environment and prevent unused or expired medications from being accidentally consumed by children or others, the county has established a program for the safe and secure collection of unwanted medication.
As a courtesy to our residents, the Pacifica Police Department serves as one of several drop-off sites in San Mateo County. The secure collection container is located in the front lobby and is available during regular business hours.
While this service is anonymous and confidential, for the safety of our staff we ask you to please check in with front office staff PRIOR to disposing of medication. You will NOT be asked to provide identification or to specify the type of medication you are disposing of.
We will NOT accept any of the following items:
- Needles
- Syringes
- Blood testing kits
- EpiPens
- Inhalers
- Vitamins
- Supplements
- Sunscreen
Instructions:
- Tablets and Pills: Place all tablets or pills in a Ziplock bag before dropping them off.
- Liquids, Creams, Ointments, and Lotions: Keep these items in their original bottles and place each bottle in its own Ziplock bag.
To assist with consolidation and space efficiency, the front office staff may provide Ziplock bags for your convenience.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our community and environment safe!
