Licensed Contractors Can Now Submit Eligible Solar Permits Through SolarAPP+ & the City of Pacifica Permit Center.

What is SolarAPP+? 

SolarAPP+ (Solar Automated Permit Processing Plus) is an automated online permitting platform that allows licensed contractors to apply for permits for standard residential rooftop solar and energy storage systems. Recent state law requires most cities and counties in California to adopt this system  to streamline the permitting process for certain types of residential solar projects. 

If you are installing a solar photovoltaic rooftop system and an energy storage system on a single family or duplex home, you may qualify to apply for real-time permits through SolarAPP+ or streamlined permits through Permits Online.  

The City of Pacifica encourages the installation of solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems through minimal permit fees, standardized guidelines, and easy-to-use online applications.  

If you are installing a solar photovoltaic rooftop system and an energy storage system on a single family or duplex home, you may qualify to apply for real-time permits through SolarAPP+ or streamlined permits through Permits Online. Larger projects, projects not eligible for online applications, or installers who prefer other methods may apply using the standard process at the Permit Service Center.

How to apply using SolarAPP+

• Submit Solar/Photovoltaic design at SolarAPP+

• Click Login or Register to get started. 

• Once you have registered, you will need to upload a copy of your license for SolarAPP+ to review. 

• Once the license has been verified, you will be given access to the application for the City of Pacifica. 

• A processing fee will be charged by SolarAPP+ for plan review. 

• An Inspection Checklist, a SolarAPP+ ID, and job card will be generated when approved.
