November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election Details
The next General Municipal Election for the City of Pacifica will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The City of Pacifica has a district-based system for the election of members of the City Council. Under a district-based elections system, voters will elect a City Council Member based on the district in which the voter and candidates are registered to vote. City Council seats in Districts 2, 3 and 5 will be up for election in the November 2026 election.

- District 2 City Council Member - for a full term of four years which will expire November 2030
- District 3 City Council Member - for a full term of four years which will expire November 2030
- District 5 City Council Member - for a full term of four years which will expire November 2030

District Elections

Only residents in Districts 2, 3 and 5 will have City Council candidates appearing on their ballots for this November 8, 2022 Election.
Information for Individuals Seeking Office
The San Mateo County Elections Office offers two dates for Candidate Seminars (in-person an online formats) for the November 3, 2026 Election:
- Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and
- Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The nomination period for election to the offices of City Council Member will be during business hours from Monday, July 13, 2026 through Friday, August 7, 2026. Nomination papers for the office of City Council will be available after 8:30 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2026 by contacting the City Clerk at (650) 738-7307 or by email to scoffey@pacifica.gov .
Individuals seeking candidacy paperwork including nomination papers must complete and submit the Candidate Request for Nomination Papers (link below) to schedule an appointment with the City Clerk. Appointments must be requested at least 24 in advance and must be confirmed by the City Clerk.

Candidates may withdraw, but not change their candidate statements. A candidate may withdraw their candidate statement no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2026. The 10-day public review period of candidate statements begins at 5:00 p.m. on August 7, 2026 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on August 17, 2026. During this period, if a candidate statement is found to be misleading or inaccurate, the statement can be challenged.
The filing period for write-in candidates is September 7, 2026 through 5:00 p.m. on October 20, 2026. Write-in candidates must obtain paperwork from the City Clerk to file Write-In Nomination Papers, the Statements of Write-In Candidacy and other required filing documents between these dates. Write-in candidates are not allowed to choose a ballot designation or file a candidate statement.

Voter Information
The San Mateo County Elections Official will mail the County Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet to each registered voter in San Mateo County September 24, 2026. This information is also available online at www.smcvote.gov.
The County Elections Official will begin mailing ballots for the November 3, 2026 Election to all registered voters no later than October 5, 2026. Visit www.smcvote.gov for more information about voter registration, to sign up to track your ballot by email / text / phone and for a full listing of Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Off locations in San Mateo County.
Voter Registration deadline for the November 3, 2026 Election is October 19, 2026. However, voters who miss this deadline can go to any Vote Center to register and cast a ballot.

A summary publication of Contributions and Contributors to Campaigns pursuant to Pacifica Municipal Code Section 2-8.05 Chapter 8 or Title 2 regarding General and Special Municipal Elections and Publication and Reporting of Campaign Contributions and Independent Expenditure Information will be made available pursuant to Ordinance 820-C.S.
