Climate Action Plan Task Force

The Climate Action Plan Task Force had been created to achieve the following objectives:

To develop and recommend to the City Council a Climate Action Plan that:

  • Establishes targets and dates to achieve reductions in GHG emissions from community and City government activities;
  • Develops strategies that can be implemented that will help reduce emissions to meet those targets;
  • Determines the methods to educate and involve community members in a program to reduce GHG emissions and meet the established targets; and
  • Includes a plan for the use of Federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds expected to be received by the City in future years

To review and discuss the Draft Climate Action Plan (DCAP) written by the City Council
Appointed Climate Action Plan Task Force (CAPTF) and KEMA Inc.; with monetary support from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), and the City and County Association of Governments (C/CAG). Additional support provided by San Mateo County Energy Watch

The City Council of the City of Pacifica will be holding a study session on Wednesday August 1, 2012 between the hours of 6:00PM and 8:00PM at City Council Chambers located at 2212 Beach Boulevard, to review and discuss the Draft Climate Action Plan (DCAP). The DCAP was drafted primarily by the Climate Action Plan Task Force (CAPTF); which is comprised of nine Pacifica residents appointed by City Council in February 2010. The CAPTF received assistance from a consortium of Silicon Valley Joint Venture Public Climate Action Task Force Members. Additionally, the CAPTF was assisted by KEMA Inc., a consulting firm that focuses on environmental and advanced planning.
