The eSlate Voting System, San Mateo County’s new voting system, is accessible, certified and electronic. Voters who go to the polls will have the choice of voting on the electronic eSlate or voting a paper ballot in their home precinct. The eSlate prints a paper record of the electronic votes cast by the voter, offers ballots in three languages (for San Mateo County) and is fully accessible. Voters will be asked to “Verify their Vote” or compare the summary page of electronic votes with the summary print out on the eSlate. It’s a voter’s right and responsibility to verify their vote.
The Elections Office is conducting demonstrations and workshops on how to vote on the eSlate. To schedule a demonstration, call Jackie Coates at (650)363-1884, email a request to email@example.com or go online to http://www.shapethefuture.org/. Specialists will come to any meeting, organization, event or church group that makes a request.
Voters may learn more about the eSlate by visiting the eSlate Learning Center, http://www.shapethefuture.org/eslate/ - there you can view pictures, browse the frequently asked questions, sign up for a demo or watch a video on how to vote on the eSlate.
