An abandoned vehicle is one that has been left on a city street for more than 72 hours without moving more than 1/10 of a mile or is otherwise inoperable.
To report an abandoned vehicle, please call (650) 829-3939 and be prepared to provide the following information:
- address where the vehicle is parked
- color of vehicle
- make/model of vehicle (if known)
- license plate number (if known)
As of August 2009, the department no longer has a Community Service Officer. Due to budget constraints, this position will remain vacant for the foreseeable future. When police offices are not attending to higher priority issues, they will process reporting of abandoned vehicles.
