Pacifica Police Department

Message from Chief Dan Steidle

The members of the Pacifica Police Department take great pride in upholding our motto, "A Tradition of Community Service" as they strive to make Pacifica a safe place to live, work and play.  We are committed to working with the community in a collaborative effort to reduce crime, increase traffic safety, and address quality of life issues.  We recognize that our success is dependent on a strong partnership with our community members.  I am extremely proud to lead a police department full of dedicated officers committed to serving their community.

Chief Dan Steidle has served in law enforcement for over 25 years.  He began his law enforcement career in 1989 as a Reserve Police Officer for the Pinole Police Department.  In 1990, he began a three year stint as a Deputy Sheriff for the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department.  In 1993, he came to the Pacifica Police Department, where he has served for 22 years.  He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, a Master's Degree in Strategic Leadership, and is a graduate of the prestigious Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.

“It is the mission of the men and women of the Pacifica Police Department to protect and serve the members of our community with the highest level of commitment, ethics and professionalism.”  (Pacifica Police Department Mission Statement)

Child Safety Tip
Before departing with children, grandchildren or kids to any event, take a second, pull out your cell phone and take individual pictures of each child.  That way, if the unthinkable happens and a child gets lost, you have a picture of how they are dressed and what they currently look like.

The photo can then be immediately sent to police to aid in locating the child.  Seconds can be precious in this scenario, so take a second, make it a habit and take a picture!
