Why are Recology's Rates Increasing?

This rate increase is requested because of increases in Recology’s operational costs, namely costs for salaries, wages, transportation and fuel.  This requested increase follows two years of reduced rates.  Recology’s four year (2015 to 2018) average modification is -0.21%, including this requested modification:

The Notice of Public Hearing informs the public about the proposed rate increases, when the hearing will be held, scheduled for Monday, December 11, 2017, and the process for protesting the increase.

Are the Rates listed in the Notice of Public Hearing Monthly or Bimonthly?

The rates listed in the Notice are monthly rates.

Why are the transportation and fuel cost increasing?

The local recyclable centers that Recology has used in the past have closed and Recology now has to transport recyclable material to Gilroy, CA and San Jose, CA.  Also, recent state legislation has increased taxes on fuel.

Do any of Recology's employees live in Pacifica?

Yes, about 80% of Recology of the Coast employees live in Pacifica.
